Emma is a lifelong learner and consistently seeks out new experiences and skillsets to develop. Beyond performing, they are interested in composition, collaborative processes, and improvisation. Emma creates work as an offering of their perspective, hoping to evoke curiosity in its witnesses. They have a passion for fostering connection between artists through interdisciplinary work, as well as enabling others to explore their potential to be versatile, multifaceted, and skillful at utilizing transferrable skills. Emma ultimately wishes to become a mentor to young artists, especially genderqueer folks, to help guide them in the direction of their passions.
Emma Armstrong expects to graduate with a Dance BFA, theatre production minor, and honors certificate from Point Park University in April of 2025. Emma has had the pleasure of performing in works by Ronen Koresh, Norbert De La Cruz III, Jason McDole, Teena Marie Custer, Crystal Frazier, LeeWei Chao, Maud Arnold, and Jaka Porter as a company member of The Pillow Projects. Emma has also been awarded a mentorship with Giordano Dance Chicago.
Emma’s additional studies in stage management for dance have led them to be Stage Manager for The Pillow Projects’ THE LONG DREAM, as well as Assistant Stage Manager for Contemporary Choreographers and Spring Dance Concert in Point Park University’s 2023-2024 season. They find production work uniquely fulfilling and they have gathered valuable knowledge as a creator and choreographer from this perspective of dance.
Emma is a 200-Hour certified yoga instructor. Yogic philosophy influences their approach to body conditioning, artistry, and life in general.
